Claude Tag: Anthropic Integrates AI Assistant Permanently into Slack

The Bottom Line: Claude Tag enables teams to use a permanently contextualized AI as a shared Slack assistant that works autonomously with administrative control over data access and proactively provides information.

Anthropic launches Claude Tag as a permanently active AI assistant in Slack that stores context information and acts autonomously in team chats. The tool will be available in beta starting June 2026 for Enterprise and Team customers.

Claude Tag functions as a virtual team member integrated directly into the Slack workspace. Users can engage the AI by mentioning the profile name in channels to request analyses or assign tasks. The key differentiator is persistent memory: Claude continuously follows its channel and collects context about ongoing team work. With appropriate approval from system administration, the AI can also link information from other organization channels.

All team members in a channel access the same Claude instance, keeping the processing history transparent for everyone. Administrators control granularly which tools, data, and channels each instance can access. The memory contents remain strictly limited to assigned areas—a technical isolation intended to prevent data silo problems between departments.
