Darktrace Integrates OpenAI Models for Risk Prioritization

In Brief: Darktrace combines its existing behavioral analysis with OpenAI models to contextualize security incidents within business operations and support incident response prioritization.

Darktrace has joined the OpenAI Daybreak Cyber Partner Program and will integrate capabilities from OpenAI models into its threat detection platform. The collaboration aims to connect technical security alerts with business context.

Darktrace is expanding its AI strategy through participation in the OpenAI Daybreak Cyber Partner Program. The program connects selected security vendors with OpenAI models to integrate them specifically into defensive solutions. Following initial testing, the phase of product integrations and managed services now follows.

The focus of the cooperation is to translate technical security alerts into business context. Security teams should not only be able to detect that an incident has occurred, but also assess its potential impact on business operations, revenue, or organizational resilience. Darktrace combines its existing behavioral models—which monitor user, device, network, and cloud activities—with OpenAI’s contextual capabilities.

However, integration remains under Darktrace’s control: customers do not have direct access to OpenAI systems. Instead, AI capabilities are embedded only for specific security tasks within Darktrace functions and services. General cyber assistants or freely available OpenAI features are not part of the approach.

Darktrace is thus extending its SECURE-AI approach, which also monitors risks around AI systems and AI agents. For CISOs, the integration offers the ability to more precisely prioritize investigations and responses based on a combination of technical anomalies and business impact.
