Claude Code v2.1.154: Opus 4.8 with Dynamic Workflows and Improved Performance

The bottom line: Claude Code v2.1.154 introduces Opus 4.8 with dynamic workflows, faster Fast-Mode, and improved agent orchestration. Numerous UX optimizations and bug fixes round out the update.

The new version of Claude Code brings the powerful Opus 4.8 model with enhanced capabilities. Highlights include dynamic workflows that orchestrate agents, as well as faster processing and improved user experience.

Claude Code v2.1.154 introduces significant improvements. The new Opus 4.8 model is set by default to maximum effort (/effort xhigh) and features a new Fast-Mode with 2.5x higher speed at reduced costs.

The innovative dynamic workflows enable users to ask Claude to create workflows that orchestrate dozens to hundreds of agents in the background, allowing them to handle more complex tasks. The /workflows command displays all executions.

Additional enhancements include a newly renamed Effort Slider system from “Speed/Intelligence” to “Faster/Smarter”, simplified plugin management with optional activation, and improved security classification. The new /simplify command now performs cleanup reviews only, instead of full code reviews.

For Claude Agents, shell command handling has been expanded, and remote control functions are now available on Bedrock, Vertex, and Foundry. Multiple bugs have been fixed, including issues with background sessions and security path validation.
