Google introduces improved features for the Google Pay API that give merchants greater flexibility and control in merchant-initiated transactions. The new updates support subscriptions, deferred payments and auto-reloads with enhanced transparency.

Google proudly presents new enhancements to the Google Pay API that provide greater flexibility and control for merchant-initiated transactions (MIT). These updates enable developers to build seamless and secure payment flows for a broader range of scenarios such as subscriptions, deferred payments and auto-reloads.

While the Google Pay API has long supported merchant-initiated transactions, its previous specification was primarily designed for immediate customer-initiated transactions. This meant that a merchant’s intent for future charges could not be fully expressed in a single API request.

With the new enhancements, developers can now clearly define the terms for future payments and provide users with greater transparency as well as enable more seamless processing. The updates focus on three primary MIT categories, delivering a comprehensive upgrade for the payments ecosystem.
