The European Commission has published a call for applications for a scientific panel of independent experts. The panel focuses on general-purpose AI (GPAI) models and systems and advises the EU AI Authority as well as national authorities on systemic risks, model classification, assessment methodologies, and cross-border market surveillance.
The panel will comprise up to 60 independent experts, geographically balanced across member states and with balanced gender representation. Up to 20 percent of experts may come from third countries.
Applicants are required to demonstrate multidisciplinary technical expertise in areas such as model evaluation, risk assessment, technical solutions, misuse, systemic risks, cybersecurity, and computational capacity calculation. Candidates must hold a PhD in a relevant field or equivalent experience, demonstrate proven professional experience and scientific achievements in AI research, and provide evidence of their independence from AI providers.
