In brief: Google releases A2UI v0.9, a framework-agnostic standard for generative UI that enables AI agents to create user interfaces in real time and communicate directly with design systems—cross-platform and without additional modifications.
Google introduces A2UI v0.9 – a framework-agnostic standard that enables AI agents to generate user interfaces in real time. The solution enables seamless communication between agents and client applications via a common language, without requiring changes to the design system.
Generative UI opens up possibilities for AI agents to create custom UI widgets in real time and dynamically adapt the user interface to the current requirements and interactions of the user. However, the transition from demonstrations to production maturity requires a clear separation of responsibilities.
With A2UI v0.9, the Google A2UI Group presents an innovative solution: a framework-agnostic standard for expressing UI intentions. This enables local or remote agents to interact with any client application via a common language. Developers can thereby leverage their existing component library across all devices – the agent generates UI directly from the existing design system without requiring modifications.
A2UI v0.9 works seamlessly across web, mobile, and other platforms. The new version significantly simplifies agent development and their integration with existing frontends. The release strengthens internal abstractions, simplifies streaming, and improves the overall developer experience. In doing so, Google also takes into account the requirements of frontend developers: new components are not required.
