Agents CLI in Agent Platform: From Idea to Production in One Command Line

In a nutshell: Agents CLI unifies AI agent development, evaluation and deployment on Google Cloud. The new tool drastically reduces time to production and enables AI coding assistants to seamlessly leverage the entire infrastructure.

Google Cloud launches Agents CLI – a unified application programming interface for the entire development lifecycle of AI agents. The new tool connects AI coding assistants such as Gemini CLI, Claude Code and Cursor to a continuous infrastructure, reducing time to production from weeks to just a few hours.

Ivan Cheung, Software Engineer, Pier Paolo Ippolito, Generative AI Field Solutions Architect, and Elia Secchi, Solutions Specialist, present the latest development in the Google Cloud ecosystem. AI agents have evolved from experimental scripts to full-fledged production services. Yet as models become more intelligent, the underlying infrastructure for development, evaluation and deployment remains fragmented and unusable. Developers and their AI coding assistants frequently struggle with isolation issues and waste valuable time and computing resources processing vast amounts of documentation – just to bridge the gap between local systems and cloud environments. Agents CLI resolves this fragmentation. Developed specifically for AI coding agents, the tool provides a direct, machine-readable connection to the entire Google Cloud Agent Stack – including Agent Platform, Cloud Run and A2A integration. This transforms Agents CLI from a fragmented ecosystem into a seamless, unified production line. Agent development is itself supported by AI agents: “Build Agents with Agents” is the guiding principle of the new approach.
