Higher Usage Limits for Claude and Compute Deal with SpaceX

At a glance: Anthropic doubles usage limits for Claude Code and increases API rate limits for Claude Opus. A new partnership with SpaceX provides over 300 megawatts of additional compute capacity with more than 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs effective immediately.

Anthropic has entered into a significant partnership with SpaceX that will substantially expand the company’s compute resources. Combined with other recent compute agreements, this enables higher usage limits for Claude Code and the Claude API.

Anthropic is implementing three important improvements today to optimize the Claude experience for loyal users. First, the five-hour rate limits for Claude Code in the Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans are being doubled. Second, rate limit reductions during peak usage times for Claude Code on Pro and Max accounts are being eliminated. Third, API rate limits for Claude Opus models are being significantly increased.

The new compute partnership with SpaceX represents a turning point. Anthropic now utilizes the full compute capacity of SpaceX’s Colossus-1 datacenter. This provides access to over 300 megawatts of additional capacity – equivalent to more than 220,000 NVIDIA GPUs – already available this month. These expanded resources directly benefit Claude Pro and Claude Max subscribers. They supplement further major compute agreements: an Amazon contract provides up to 5 GW, with nearly 1 GW of additional capacity by the end of 2026.
